Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi and singer Yinka Ayefele, had a meeting today to discuss on how the issues surrounding the controversial demolition of the singer's music house by the state government can be resolved. Last Sunday, the state government partially demolished the building, an act that elicited widespread condemnation.
At the meeting today, Governor Ajimobi said the demolition exercise was neither a witch-hunt nor politically motivated, insisting it was due to the contravention of the state ’s property laws. The governor maintained that Ayefele is a good man and a responsible citizen.
He immediately constitued a committee to resolve the impasse over the demolition.
He also urged Ayefele to ensure that his radio station embraced ethical reportage of the issue.
